Melonie Rector
President
Lexington, NC
Melonie Rector is currently the Choral Director for Lexington High School where she is in her twenty-eighth year of education. She has been with Lexington City Schools for fourteen of those years.
Prior to teaching in Lexington, she taught both High School and Middle School in Virginia and Kentucky. Choirs under her direction have consistently received ratings both at the local and national levels. She has experience as an adjudicator and clinician in Virginia, Kentucky, and North Carolina.
Melonie received her bachelor’s degree in Music from Mars Hill College and her master’s degree in Music Education from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She received her National Board certification in 2005 and is an active member of ACDA and MENC. In 2011 she was selected as the Lexington Middle School and Lexington City School’s Teacher of the Year.
She is currently President of NCSICA and is on the board for the Arts Academy at Grace. Since 2007 she has been the assistant conductor of the Lexington Choral Society.
Currently she resides in Lexington with her husband Phil and their two daughters.
Jayson Snipes
Treasurer
Winston-Salem, NC
A native of Winston-Salem, Jayson received the B.M. in Music Education and the M.M. in Choral Conducting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Jayson has worked with all levels of musicians. After completing his student teaching at Lexington Senior High School and Lexington Middle School in 2007, he taught elementary general music in the Davidson County Schools system for three years. During the 2011–2012 school year, Jayson was the instructor for the Men’s Glee Club at UNC Greensboro. He is the artistic director of Piedmont Chamber Singers in Winston-Salem. After spending ten years as a church organist, Jayson was appointed the Director of Music at Maple Springs United Methodist Church in 2009, and became the Artistic Director of the Piedmont Chamber Singers in 2015.
Jayson’s hobbies include football (Carolina Panthers and Wake Forest!), traveling, and aviation.
